  • About Gib: J. Gilbert (Gib) Reese arrived at First Federal Savings in 1959, serving as Director, and worked closely with the company's founder and his father, Everett D. Reese. He later became Board Chair in 1969, and now serves as Chairman Emeritus. Over the decades, he has helped lead the company to greatness and has spent a majority of his life working to improve the lives of others in his local community.

    Mr. Reese graduated from Phillips Academy in 1943 and served over 2.5 years in the United States Army Medical Corp in WWII. He received his B.A. from The Ohio State University in 1949 and graduated from the Ohio State University College of Law in 1952. Mr. Reese was the founding Partner at the law firm Reese, Pyle, Meyer PLL He also served as Director at Park National Bank, Freight Service, Inc. and United Carriers Corporation. He has been a member of the American, Ohio State and Licking County Bar Associations, the OSU Advisory Committee, and Chairman of the National Council OSU College of Law from 1972-1978.

    Mr. Reese has a long history of community support and involvement, and with every new role, he has created positive impact and helped those in need in many ways. He was a founding trustee of both the Thomas J. Evans Foundation, (1965-present) and the Newark Campus Development Fund (1983-present). He is a founder of both The Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College on the Newark Campus. He served as Trustee and was Chairman of COTC (1973-1977) and a member of Licking County Foundation's Governing Committee.

    Throughout the Central Ohio community, Mr. Reese has spent much of his career serving as Trustee to organizations such as: Columbus Museum of Art, YMCA of Newark and Licking County, Columbus College of Art & Design, Licking Memorial Hospital/Health Systems, Dawes Arboretum and The Works. Other duties include service as President of the Licking County Bar Association and Newark Area Chamber of Commerce (1969-1970), Newark City Safety Director (1955), Newark City Council (1956-1957), Newark Law Director (1958-1961), director of Shaw-Barton in Coshocton (1978-1981) and Alltel.
